Old Settlement, Newer Suburb

Excavation contractors in Montgomery work in one of Hamilton County's oldest settlements. Montgomery was settled in 1795, laid out in 1802, became a village in 1910 and a city in 1971. It stayed tiny until the 1960s: 579 residents in 1950, 3,075 in 1960 and 10,084 in 1980. The 2020 census counted 10,853 residents and 4,102 housing units on about 5.3 square miles at about 794 feet.

Homes from the 1960s and 1970s

Most homes went up as Montgomery became a bedroom community for Cincinnati workers. Those houses now have 50 to 60 year old laterals, footing drains and driveways. Lateral replacement and regrading are routine.

Larger yards

Suburban lots give room for pools, patios and additions. We excavate, set grades and haul or reuse spoil as the site allows.

Older core

The historic center has older buildings with different foundations and pipe. We check construction before digging near them.

Annexed land

Montgomery annexed land from Symmes Township starting in 1973 and became coextensive with its paper township in 1990, so neighborhoods on the edges may be newer than those near the center.

Sycamore schools and steady values

Montgomery's neighborhoods are well kept and stable, and projects tend to be improvements rather than repairs: pools, patios, additions, garage expansions and landscape grading. For those, we work from the designer's or builder's plan, confirm grades on site and point out anything that will not drain the way it is drawn. Spoil is reused on site where it fits the plan and hauled where it does not.
